Hard as it is to believe, we are now approaching the end of our first incredible year as a community. Our founders have worked incredibly hard, and now is the time to step back and marvel at the fruits of our labor. In this spirit, with the school year coming to a close, we announce a transition in leadership at Ner Tamid, with Elana Margolis stepping down as Board President.
Our entire board wishes to express tremendous gratitude to Elana. Her tireless service and heroic contributions were instrumental in launching Ner Tamid Community Day School. It was her leadership in those early days that inspired the rest us to believe Ner Tamid Community Day School could become a reality. Her support throughout out first year was fundamental to our success.
To carry the torch forward, our board has elected Jesse Katz as our next board president. Jesse has a strong passion for Jewish education and community development, and brings experience in board development, communication and outreach from his work with other Jewish organizations, including three years on the UMass Amherst Hillel House Board of Directors. Jesse wholeheartedly believes that a Jewish day school is a vital piece in the success and livelihood of the South Shore Jewish community. As an alum of SASSDS, Jesse experienced this support and belonging first hand, and is proud to be President of an organization that is providing these opportunities for future generations. He joins the students of Ner Tamid monthly to teach them Jewish songs. Jesse attended Gann Academy and has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a focus in Neuroscience from UMass Amherst, and lives in Stoughton, MA.
Please join me in extending our heartfelt gratitude to Elana and congratulating Jesse on his new role. May we go from strength to strength!
